Event Details

Charles Arthur, editor of Technology Guardian, will be speaking at Fullrun’s Talking Shop on the evening of Tuesday 31st March. . .

Disregard City coverage, and the Guardian arguably reigns supreme in terms of tech coverage among the nationals. The coverage is broad (from gaming to the public sector) and deep (witness Technology Guardian's recent story on the hidden costs of being a niche telecoms carrier).

We can promise you a wide-ranging discussion that covers the mechanics of pitching tech stories to the Guardian, plus debate on the future of both PR and journalism (and quite a bit else besides).

Because Charles operates close to, or at, the centre of the Guardian's tech coverage, we're also going to ask him to take a slightly widescreen approach. So you can expect views and hints on everything from Bobbie Johnson's west coast news agenda to the preoccupations of Jemima Kiss, Michael Cross and columnist Paul Carr.

Of course, the prospect of pitching Charles Arthur has always worried some PRs. Consider these Tweets from the editor of Technology Guardian during the past 48 hours:

  • If you have numbers for head honchos , then yes pls. Not jumping through trivial hoops for them.

  • No, PR agency. . . I haven’t time to send you an email detailing when, what and where. . . Offer a human, dammit.

  • Yes, my inbox has become a sort of tragedy of the commons for PR emails. Unfortunately address spread to US PR cos too. Argh.

On 31st March, you'll be able to find out more about Charles's view of the background to these Tweets.

It's gonna be a lively evening. Join us. . . and make sure you come armed with plenty of questions!
